Pakistan and Malaysia have agreed to work more closely on rice trade, halal certification and food security. They reviewed progress under a Memorandum of Understanding between JAKIM and the Pakistan Halal Authority (PHA), signed in October.

Both sides stressed the value of sharing expertise, strengthening certification mechanisms and making halal trade easier. • Fisheries and aquaculture technologies
• Animal vaccines
• Biosecurity controls
• Halal gelatin supply

A Formal Mechanism, Starting in November

The most concrete outcome is institutional. Both sides agreed to set up a formal mechanism to strengthen linkages and identify ways to facilitate agricultural trade, technical cooperation and knowledge exchange. It will begin with a joint virtual meeting in November this year.
